BeFriends is a project that enables people with learning difficulties to enjoy social activities in the community with the support of a trained volunteer.

People are supported on a one to one basis in whatever social activity they choose to do and some of our current partnerships enjoy things such as ten-pin bowling, going to the pub or cinema, shopping, bird watching, playing snooker and much much more!
Volunteers and BeFriends members are matched according to their individual interests and personalities and are supported by BeFriends workers both initially and for as long as both people feel they need it.
All volunteers are subject to references through the Crimional Records Bureau, asked to provide two independent references and and receive initial and ongoing support and training. Volunteers receive an expenses allowance for activities and travel.
We currently cover the Norwich area and parts of North Norfolk from Sheringham to Walcott and inland to North Walsham and the villages in between.
We have information packs for members, volunteers and carers and also a 5-minute video that explains how BeFriends works. To find out more about the latest video, see the .
